In the trailer of Sridevi's eagerly awaited new film 'Mom', which released on Saturday, she is seen at the peak of her performing power. We know nothing about the plot except that it is a mother-daughter story and for a change, there are pretty strong male characters in this flick.
Mom is her 300th film, but Sridevi still feels like a newcomer in the film industry. “I feel like it’s first film, I feel like a newcomer. It’s long way to go.”
Sridevi said at the trailer launch of Mom, where she was accompanied by her daughters Khushi and Jhanvi, and her husband, producer Boney Kapoor. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Akshaye Khanna and Adnan Siddiqui leave a strong impact in the little that they are given to do in the trailer. Nawazuddin, the chameleon of an actor, is seen in prosthetics for the first time. His balding pate and buck teeth stand out, as does his confrontation scene with Sridevi where she cynically tells Nawaz, “God can’t be everywhere.” “That’s why he created the Mother,” retorts Nawaz.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is working with actor Sridevi for the first time and he was all praise about co-star Sridevi. “While shooting I have seen how patient she (Sridevi) is as a person. Like even if the shot is after two hours she will wait patiently these are the things that you learn,” Nawaz said during a press conference.
"It was my dream to work with ma’am, she works on a lot of detailing to her character, she inspires everyone. It was a dream to work with her so I had thought whenever I get an opportunity I will grab it,” he added.
The 53-year-old star was also all praise about the actor. “I’m working for the first time with a lot of people in this film. It’s really wonderful to see Nawazuddin on screen. He is a gifted actor. I’m a huge admirer of his work. I have so much respect for him as an actor. Akshaye is such a powerful performer.”
Mom will hit the theatres on July 7. Watch the trailer here:
